Amherst:UMass To Seek New Women's Basketball Head Coach
University of Massachusetts Athletic Director John McCutcheon announced Monday that the school will be seeking a new head coach for the women's basketball program. Marnie Dacko was informed that her contract will not be extended beyond the April 10, 2010 expiration date. (MORE)

Amherst:Richmond Eliminates Minutewomen, 54-47, In First Round
Despite taking a one-point lead into the locker room at halftime, the UMass women's basketball team was unable to overcome a 6-0 run by Richmond to start the second half and fell to the Spiders, 54-47 in the teams' Atlantic 10 Tournament first round matchup on Friday afternoon. With the setback, the Minutewomen will end the 2009-10 season with a record of 11-19, while Richmond will move on to face top-seeded Xavier tomorrow afternoon. (MORE)

Amherst:Minutewomen Travel To A-10 Tournament Friday
The UMass women's basketball team will open up postseason play on Friday afternoon, Mar. 5, in Upper Marlboro, Md., at the Atlantic 10 Tournament where the squad will be the No. 9 seed, facing No. 8 Richmond at 12 p.m. in The Show Place Arena. The winner of the contest will move on to face top-seeded Xavier the following day. The Minutewomen (11-18) and the Spiders have met on one prior occasion in the A-10 Tournament, with UMass coming away with an 85-73 victory in the quarterfinal round on March 2, 2002. (MORE)

Amherst:UMass' Watson Tabbed A-10 Rookie Of The Year
UMass freshman center Jasmine Watson has been selected as the 2009-10 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year, the conference announced on Wednesday following a vote of the league's 14 head coaches. Watson is just the third Minutewoman to capture the award as Octavia Thomas was named Rookie of the Year in 1992-93 and Jeanine Michaelson was tabbed Freshman of the Year in 1986-87. (MORE)
