Mar. 8, 2010Amherst:UMass To Seek New Women's Basketball Head Coach University of Massachusetts Athletic Director John McCutcheon announced Monday that the school will be seeking a new head coach for the women's basketball program. Mar. 5, 2010Amherst:Richmond Eliminates Minutewomen, 54-47, In First Round Despite taking a one-point lead into the locker room at halftime, the UMass women's basketball team was unable to overcome a 6-0 run by Richmond to start the second half and fell to the Spiders, 54-47 in the teams' Atlantic 10 Tournament first round matchup on Friday afternoon. With the setback, the Minutewomen will end the 2009-10 season with a record of 11-19, while Richmond will move on to face top-seeded Xavier tomorrow afternoon. (MORE)

Mar. 3, 2010Amherst:UMass' Watson Tabbed A-10 Rookie Of The Year UMass freshman center Jasmine Watson has been selected as the 2009-10 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Rookie of the Year, the conference announced on Wednesday following a vote of the league's 14 head coaches. Watson is just the third Minutewoman to capture the award as Octavia Thomas was named Rookie of the Year in 1992-93 and Jeanine Michaelson was tabbed Freshman of the Year in 1986-87.
