Aug. 10, 2010Amherst:Sarah Albrecht Returns To UMass Women's Lacrosse Coaching Staff Following a three-year stint at Harvard as assistant coach, Sarah Albrecht has been named associate head coach of the UMass women's lacrosse program as announced by head coach Angela McMahon today. Albrecht replaces Acacia Walker who took a similar position at Boston College earlier this summer. The Braintree, Mass., native returns to the UMass women's lacrosse program after serving as assistant coach in 2007. (MORE)
Jul. 9, 2010Amherst:Angela McMahon Named UMass Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Angela McMahon has been named the new University of Massachusetts women's lacrosse head coach as announced by Director of Athletics John McCutcheon on Friday, July 9. McMahon has served the last two years as the head coach at the University of Connecticut and will replace Alexis Venechanos who accepted the head coaching job at Ohio State. (MORE)
Jul. 1, 2010Amherst:Venechanos Named Ohio State WLax Head Coach After leading UMass to two A-10 titles in women's lacrosse, Alexis Venechanos was named the new head coach of the Ohio State program on Thursday. Venechanos had served as UMass head coach since the 2007 season. A national search for a successor will be begin immediately. "Alexis did a great job in her four years as the head coach at UMass," John McCutcheon, UMass Athletic Director, said. "She has positioned us for success in the future coming off back-to-back conference championships. We wish her well at Ohio State." (MORE)
Jun. 1, 2010Amherst:Jackie Lyons Earns All-American, All-Region Lacrosse Honors Coming off an outstanding junior campaign, women's lacrosse midfielder Jackie Lyons has earned All-America and All-Region postseason accolades. The leading scorer for the Minutewomen was named to the WomensLacrosse.com All-America Third Team and the IWLCA All-North Region First Team.
